A business in the town of Bad Dürrheim, Germany has donated a lifesaving HeartSine automated external defibrillator (AED) to a group of rescuers belonging to the Red Cross Villingen.
The newly formed first responders group will be responsible for providing first aid services during emergencies that take place in the areas of Pfaffenweiler and Herzogsweiler. Such services include performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and using an AED in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) incident.
With 84 percent of SCA events occurring away from a healthcare setting, it is important for the first responders group to have quick access to an AED in the event of a cardiac emergency, as timing is crucial during an attack.
The AED was installed by HeartSine German distributor, MedX5.
